What are the responsibilities and job description for the Punch Press Operator position at Wakefield Thermal Solutions, Inc.?
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Set dies and operated punch press, consistently producing quality parts above desired quotas.
- Works from drawings, blueprints, job layouts, or other written specifications, determines feeds, speeds, tooling and operational sequences.
- Operates and adjusts machine through inspection process until parts produced conform with specifications and time standards.
- Ensures machine is working at full capacity, are stocked with needed materials, well-maintained and perform periodic checks on output.
- Detects and reports improper operation, faulty equipment, and unusual conditions.
- Detects and reports significant variances in job standards.
- Assists in the upkeep and maintaining of the PM schedule.
- Responsible for cleanliness of his/her own work area and the general housekeeping of the Company.
- Reports any unsafe conditions to Supervisor/Management/Maintenance.
- Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Formal relative education/training through a technical/voc tech school.
- 5 years experience operating punch press equipment in a manufacturing type setting.
- The ability to use micrometers, calipers, height gauges and dial indicators.
- Strong math skills.
- Capability of making tooling necessary to complete tasks.
- Mechanical and Technical skills; ability to read and interpret blueprints a must.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to use hands and arms to finger, handle, feel and control objects or tools. The employee is regularly required to stand and occasionally required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. WORK ENVIRONMENT:
While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts and is exposed to airborne particles and chemicals. The noise level is usually very loud. The employee is required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and safety shoes.
