Position Overview
We seek a dynamic and experienced Director of Business Development to join our team. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual who excels at generating new business with brands and agencies that manage sports and entertainment sponsorships while fostering meaningful relationships and delivering exceptional value with properties. The successful candidate will have a strong understanding of research methodologies, a proven sales record, and a commitment to teaching, tailoring, and taking care of partners throughout the business development process. Experience using Wakefield services is highly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
1. Outbound Business Development
Identify and develop new business opportunities focusing on:
- First priority: Brands that sponsor sports and entertainment properties to build strategic partnerships that leverage Wakefield’s research capabilities.
- Second priority: Professional and collegiate sports teams; leagues, agencies, and other rights holders.
2. Coach Current Property Partners
- Provide comprehensive training to existing partners on how to effectively use Wakefield data to drive sponsorship sales and renewals.
- Develop and deliver customized presentations, workshops, best practices, and tools to help partners maximize the value of Wakefield insights.
- Serve as a trusted advisor and resource, ensuring partners feel confident and empowered to leverage research in their sales strategies.
Qualifications
Experience
- Preferred experience working with Wakefield (www.wakefield.global) research at the property or brand level.
- Strong understanding of research methodologies, with the ability to teach and tailor insights to client needs.
- Proven track record of success in sales, including meeting or exceeding revenue targets.
- Experience with Tableau and Salesforce is helpful.
Education
- Related advanced degrees (e.g., MBA; Master’s in Statistics, Marketing, or Data Analytics; PhD) preferred.
