Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Public Relations Specialist to assist our Communications Director within the Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners. This positions requires proficiency in skills such as written and verbal communication, research, analytic analysis, computer (i.e., Microsoft applications), advertising, marking and tourism. Applicants should be able to analyze laws, policies and guidance documents. Assist the Director with drafting meeting notices and preparing agendas, agenda items and/or supporting documentation for the Tourism Development Council. Attends all TDC and committee meetings, takes notes and assists with preparing minutes for the TDC approval. Assists with producing reports on TDC activities and conducting tourism based research. Assists with project research, drafting press releases, reports, social media content and developing public information campaigns.
Requirements
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent and a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or Communications and two years of experience with similar work (i.e., local or state promotional organization, communications office, or advertising firm). Valid Florida's Driver's License. A sample of your writing skills would be appreciated, but not required. Drug screening and background checks are required. - Ability to conduct thorough research to inform public relations strategies.

- A proactive approach to problem-solving and crisis management within the public relations context.
