Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Yard Truck Driver/City Driver to transport trailers safely to designated locations, adhering to all regulations. The ideal candidate will have a valid state-issued driver's license and be willing to obtain a Class A Commercial Driver's License within 6 months.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive tractor/trailers in a safe and correct manner by adhering to all regulations.
- Transport trailers to appropriate destinations in an accurate and timely manner.
- Maintain records, logs, and forms, including any forms required by the Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Operate tractor/trailer unit safely by adhering to all safety requirements.
- Inspect mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment of tractor/trailer unit before, during, and after trips.
- Maintain quality by ensuring that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order; maintaining proper fuel levels; and performing trailer inventory checks.
- Ensure quality by retaining load-related paperwork, electronic logs, and forms.
- Plan routes based on local and state traffic laws and local restrictions.
Requirements:
- Yard Driver: Valid state-issued driver's license, ability to obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License within 6 months.
- City Driver: Interstate (Class A) Commercial Drivers License with Hazmat endorsement or willingness to obtain within 120 calendar days, minimum 30 months experience in a full-time Class A tractor/trailer driving position, no more than two moving violations in the last three years, no preventable accidents in the last ten years.
