Job Title: Yard Truck Driver/City Driver
About the Job
As a Yard Truck Driver, you will be operating a Yard Truck to transport trailers safely to designated locations, adhering to all regulations. You will also maintain records, logs, and forms, including those required by the Department of Transportation.
As a City Driver, you will operate a tractor trailer delivering merchandise to stores. You will maintain records of load-related paperwork, electronic logs, and forms required by the Department of Transportation and other agencies.
Safety, accuracy, and attention to detail are crucial for these roles. You will maintain a clean and safe work environment and comply with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Yard Driver Operations:
- Drive tractor/trailers in a safe and correct manner, adhering to all regulations.
- Transport trailers to designated locations accurately and on time.
- Tell management about unsafe working conditions, damaged products, or improper procedures.
- Maintain a clean work environment to ensure safety and compliance.
- Inspect trailers to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
- Utilize warehouse management systems to move trailers to designated locations within the yard.
City Driver:
- Operate tractor/trailer safely, adhering to all safety requirements.
- Inspect mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment before, during, and after trips.
- Maintain records of load-related paperwork, electronic logs, and forms required by the Department of Transportation and other agencies.
- Plan routes based on local and state traffic laws and local restrictions.
- Comply with company policies, procedures, and standards of ethics and integrity.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid state-issued driver's license (for Yard Driver position).
- Obtain Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of job entry date and maintain it while employed in this position (for Yard Driver position).
- Interstate (Class A) Commercial Drivers License with Hazmat endorsement or obtain HAZMAT endorsement within 120 calendar days of date of hire (for City Driver position).
- Minimum of 30 months experience working in a full-time Class A tractor/trailer driving position in the previous 3 years (for City Driver position).
- No more than two moving violations while operating a personal or commercial motor vehicle in the last three years (for City Driver position).
- No serious traffic violations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years (for City Driver position).
- No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol/drugs within the last ten years (for City Driver position).
- No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years (for City Driver position).
Note: The preventability of any accidents will be determined by Walmart based on the ATA Guidelines.
