Job Description

Role

Responsible for the development and performance of all sales activities and operational integrity of assigned market area. Directs the sales team and provides leadership towards the achievement of maximum profitability and growth in line with the financial institutions’ sales objectives. Provides development, leadership and operational support to staff in order to achieve branch goals.

Reports to Area Retail Manager

Major Duties And Responsibilities

Manage direct reports to maximize productivity, efficiency, and the potential of the human assets of the company, including hiring, directing job assignments, monitoring staff performance, coaching, counseling, training, assuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational mission, values, policies and work rules. Appraise performance and provide recommendations for staff compensation, promotion, and termination, as appropriate.

Utilizes needs-based sales approach to develop business relationships and generate revenue by offering a variety of business products during outside calling efforts. Ensures staff participation in sales activities and community events in order to generate new business and represent the financial institution within the market area.

Possess’ in-depth up to date knowledge of all financial institution products and services. Responsible to communicate and motivate branch staff to deliver high quality service through “needs based” sales. Ensures optimum branch customer service by monitoring and adjusting staff schedules based on transaction volume while managing the use of overtime.

Develops annual business plan and sales strategy for their individual market to ensure the attainment of sales goals and profitability. Responsible to provide timely feedback to senior management regarding branch sales performance.

Ensures branch compliance of financial institution’s policies and procedures. Responsible to enforce the security program, cash levels, teller differences and outstanding cash items. Responsible for on-the-job training and development of the branch staff. Provides staff timely individual performance feedback given through regular one-on-one meetings.

Develop and implement annual department budget; review monthly to analyze variances and assure expenditures remain within limits. Recognize opportunities to streamline and improve branch operations.

Ensures optimum branch customer service by monitoring and adjusting staff schedules based on transaction volume while managing the use of overtime.

Troubleshoots and resolves internal and external inquiries.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Experience

Knowledge and Skills

Five to seven years’ experience in financial institution operating policies and procedures, banking regulations (state and federal), employee development, and public relations.

Education/Certifications/Licenses

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent combined education and work experience. Notary License required.

Interpersonal Skills

Has supervisory/managerial responsibilities over a branch or small to medium sized department. Supervises, coordinates and reviews the work of assigned staff, typically with a subordinate group of up to 15 employees. Recommends candidates for employment, conducts performance evaluations and salary reviews for assigned staff, and applies company policy. Can include department heads with no staff.

Other Skills

Excellent sales, interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to supervise, monitor and evaluate the work of others. Leadership and employee development skills.

Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 20 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in emergency situation. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of travel by automobile (as driver and passenger), commercial airlines, rental vehicles and public transportation and be able to lodge in public facilities. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working Conditions

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled private office with minimal noise.

Mental and/or Emotional Requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to plan and direct the work activities of self and others. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be able to perform basic mathematical calculations with extreme accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
