Role

Responsible to fulfill multiple branch functions including teller and platform services. Oversees teller operations, maintains records of vault, teller cash balances and general ledger accounts. Provides exceptional customer service, such as opening of accounts and assisting customer inquiries of bank products. Utilizes the Walden Savings Bank Sales and Service Model to identify cross-sell opportunities and refer customers to appropriate business partners. Assists Management with the ongoing training and development of teller staff.

Reports to Assistant Branch Manager

Major Duties and Responsibility

Provides a complete range of branch services, including opening new loans and accounts, processing teller transactions and cross selling bank products, services and digital platform. Gathers customer information utilizing the needs-based sales approach. Opens and closes branch independently.

Ensures accurate processing of transactions including savings, loan and checking. Including but not limited to wire transfers, stop payment requests, savings bond transactions, cash advances and safe deposit box payments. Performs a higher level of services including complex transactions and customer inquiries. Oversees branch cash management.

Promotes products and services by referring customers to appropriate business partners based on customer needs and captures interactions using our customer relations management software. This includes but is not limited to loan, business and investment services. Assist supervisors in sales activities and research.

Works with branch management to ensure tellers are in compliance with regulations, policies, procedures and branch security. Enforces the security program monitoring cash levels, teller differences and outstanding cash items.

Responsible for daily, monthly and quarterly branch proof. Assist teller staff in locating discrepancies as needed.

Works with branch management to provide on-the-job training for tellers including product knowledge, sales, service and compliance. Conducts weekly huddles with the teller staff.

Remains up to date on product knowledge, bank services, policies, practices and procedures.

Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to, the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control.

Experience

2-3 years' experience in the teller function, as well as sales experience, particularly in cross-marketing products and services.

Education, Certifications, and Licenses

A high school degree or GED is required.

Interpersonal Skills

A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required to be an effective subject matter expert in the position. In-depth dialogues, conversations and explanations with customers, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature is a normal part of the day-to-day experience. Communications can involve motivating, influencing, educating and/or advising others on matters of significance.

Other Skills

Excellent sales, interpersonal and communication skills.

Good understanding of financial products and services.

Excellent attention to detail, computer and organizational skills.

Ability to recognize customer needs in order to refer products.

Physical Requirements

Perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 25 lbs.  Must be capable of climbing/descending stairs in emergency situation.  Must be able to operate routine office equipment including telephone, copier, facsimile, and calculator.  Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.  Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular, reliable and timely attendance.

Working conditions.

Must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work environment with moderate noise.

Mental requirements

Must be able to perform job functions independently and with limited supervision. Must work effectively as part of a team.  Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.  Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.  Must be able to perform basic financial calculations with accuracy. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.  Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under stress of deadline, requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be capable of exercising highest level of discretion on confidential matters.
