Primary Responsibilities
- Understand the objectives of the site survey and provide horizontal and vertical control using a Total Station.
- Participate in basic layout and field activities. These activities include:
- Establish control lines from control points.
- Layout footings and stem walls.
- Layout vertical formwork such as columns and walls.
- Establish elevation benchmarks.
- Layout required embeds, block-outs, and other items required by contract.
- Packing around heavy equipment. (30-50lbs)
- Hammering stakes, hubs, and lath into the ground.
- Assist in the performance of a variety of surveying activities.
- Maintain proper usage and storage of all surveying equipment.
- Work during inclement weather; could be exposed to extreme cold, heat, noise, and dust from construction operations depending upon project site.
- Travel to job sites all around the Spokane area to do layout during all phases of the job.
Duties
- Perform laboratory tests on construction materials such as soil, concrete, asphalt, and aggregates to determine their physical and chemical properties.
- Prepare samples for testing and ensure accurate documentation of results.
- Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure it is calibrated and functioning properly.
- Analyze test results and prepare detailed reports for project managers and engineers.
- Collaborate with field personnel to collect samples from job sites as needed.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean working environment in the laboratory.
- Assist in the development of new testing methods and procedures to improve efficiency.
Minimum Requirement
- Minimum of one year experience in field layout or similar construction role.
- Good communication skills, i.e. written, verbal, and interpersonal.
- Proficient at reading and understanding contract drawings, including, but not limited to, structural, civil, and architectural drawings.
- Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of construction field engineering from pre-construction to completion preferred.
- Driver’s license required.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
