Controller (remote but candidate needs to be based in Houston)
Walker Elliott is working with small, self-funded upstream oil & gas company seeking an experienced upstream oil and gas Accountant to oversee daily accounting operations and support financial decision-making. This remote position reports directly to the CFO and works closely with an external outsourcing partner. We're looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, highly organized, and experienced in oil & gas E&P accounting.
Responsibilities:
- Manage daily accounting operations, including JIB, revenue, accruals, and A/P & A/R
- Maintain accounting policies, procedures, and an organized filing system
- Prepare accurate financial statements and coordinate the annual report
- Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and capital investment reviews
- Ensure compliance with government reporting and tax filings
- Assist with annual audit and external auditor communications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Administration
- 7 years of accounting experience, with strong Oil & Gas E&P background
- CPA or CMA preferred
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, and analytical
- Comfortable working independently in a remote environment
