Walker Engineering is currently taking applications for a Licensed Journeyman Electricians in the Austin Area. If you are an experienced Electrical Journeyman and meet and or and exceed the requirements below, we would like to talk with you!
A Journeyman Electrician will work under the guidance of a Foreman or Superintendent in installations, alterations, additions, and/or repair of electrical systems, conductors, and associated materials and equipment on any type project. A Journeyman may be required to perform any of the duties and responsibilities associated with classifications of an E-5 and below. Applicants must be willing to work Night Shift and Overtime as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lays out work and preps materials for installation.
- Performs underground layout and rough-in.
- Determines wire and conduit sizing.
- Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, threaders and hand or mechanical benders.
- Installs BUSS feeders.
- Performs switchgear installation and terminations.
- Installs and connects power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics, or blueprints.
- Troubleshoots and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment.
- Operates any hand tools and equipment necessary to perform all associated tasks.
- Performs other project related duties and assignments as instructed by supervisor.
- Meets attendance standards and complies with late/absence notification procedures.
Position Requirements:
- Hold a current Journeyman’s (TDLR) License.
- Minimum 5 years commercial experience.
- Have proven leadership skills and an effective communicator
- Understands production & material management
- Are skilled in the tools and installation methods used in commercial construction
- OSHA30 a plus
- Understand the importance of JHA’s
- Requires basic mechanical aptitude, mathematical and English language skills
- MUST understand basic electrical theory and its application to installations
- Must be able to work occasional overtime if required
- Have reliable transportation
Education Requirements:
- High School Graduate, GED or equivalent.
