JOB DESCRIPTION
- Clinical Expertise & Support:
- Serve as the clinical advisor for internal departments supporting CSB’s Medigap and SHL product lines.
- Provide guidance to underwriting, claims, product development, legal, marketing, and operations teams.
- Strategic & Tactical Delivery:
- Contribute to the clinical direction and tactical execution of initiatives across CSB markets in 49 states and DC.
- Partner with leadership to develop innovative approaches that improve cost containment, clinical outcomes, and customer satisfaction.
- Clinical Resources & Education:
- Educate and support non-clinical staff including underwriters and claims representatives.
- Consult on complex cases involving appeals, rescissions, and potential fraud.
- Team Leadership – SBCT:
- Lead the Supplemental Benefits Clinical Team (SBCT), which includes medical directors, pharmacists, data analysts, and other stakeholders across the Enterprise.
- Actuarial Collaboration:
- Ensure clinical integrity in pricing models, underwriting frameworks, and claims automation initiatives through close collaboration with the Actuarial Team.
- Innovation & Development:
- Drive clinical input for new methodologies, such as preventive care strategies and vendor-based solutions for cost containment and health outcome improvement.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Board Certified (ABMS) M.D. or D.O, unrestricted and active license to practice medicine
- 10 years clinical experience to include inpatient experience
- Must be able to work every weekend and holidays/additional shifts as needed
- Experience in managed care environments and working with or within insurance models
- Proficient with Microsoft applications (Excel, Outlook etc.)
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience in Medigap or Supplemental Health Insurance
- Familiarity with medical underwriting practices
- MBA or comparable business experience
- Background or interest in data science or analytics
