Walker Healthforce is seeking a Clinical Variant Scientist for a healthcare client located remotely. This is a contract opportunity.

JOB SUMMARY
- Evaluate somatic and germline variants from tumor-based NGS testing
- Interpret functional, computational, and clinical data to determine variant significance
- Apply AMP/ASCO/CAP guidelines and summarize data for clinical reports
- Maintain and develop gene-level curation resources
- Participate in relevant publications, databases, professional collaborations, and conference presentations
- Train and mentor lab fellows, graduate students, and other clinical staff
- Support workflow optimization, new test development, and variant curation process improvements
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced clinical environment
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- MS, PhD, or equivalent in Genetics, Genetic Counseling, Molecular Biology, or a related field
- Strong knowledge of molecular genetics, human genetics, or related medical fields
- Experience with somatic variant interpretation in a clinical lab
- Proficient in AMP/ASCO/CAP standards for somatic variant classification
- Familiar with Sanger and NGS technologies
- Hands-on experience with variant databases, in silico tools, literature review, and reporting
- Excellent oral and written communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Computer skills appropriate for data analysis and lab practice
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Experience with solid tumor molecular profiling
- Familiarity with bioinformatics, statistical analysis, or data integration
- Background in both germline and somatic variant curation
- Familiarity with variant curation standards and databases (ClinVar, COSMIC, etc.)
