Walker Healthforce is seeking a Payroll Specialist II for a healthcare client located in Detroit, MI. This is a contract opportunity.
START DATE: ASAP

JOB SUMMARY
- Performs online edits and corrections in PeopleSoft payroll system.
- Calculates and audits special check requests from departments
- Processes internal adjustments for employees by analyzing payroll data.
- Conducts detailed corrections of exception time report edits in PeopleSoft.
- Reviews and validates Kronos schedules, addressing timecard discrepancies.
- Communicates with employees and management about paycheck concerns.
- Processes and sends garnishment checks with legal responsibility statements.
- Prepares stop payment and voided checks for reversal and reissue.
- Manages deductions from employee paychecks (e.g., union dues, pharmacy).
- Calculates and adjusts overpayments from employees' paychecks.
- Interprets and applies relevant codes, rules, and regulations in payroll transactions.
- Collaborates with Payroll Analyst and Accounting for accurate ledger allocations.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- 2 years of payroll experience required; hospital payroll experience is highly desirable
- Extensive knowledge of PeopleSoft and Kronos payroll and timekeeping systems
PREFERRED JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Payroll certification (FPC or CPP)
- Familiarity with CRM systems for document tracking
