Description
Work as part of a team to provide a therapeutic milieu environment for children, to further the emotional, behavioral, and educational development of children, and maintain a safe and healthy environment.
Essential Functions for this position include:
- Directly supervise, plan, and implement social and recreational activities for children
- Apply Walker’s model of childcare, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) verbal and physical deescalation methods
- Actively participate and respond to supervision and professional development opportunities offered at Walker
- Abilitiy to perform and implement treatment protocol established in children’s treatment plans, IEPs, and individual crisis management plans
- Properly attend to administrative functions of childcare, including attending required meetings; completing assigned oral and written report writing tasks
- Administer medication in accordance with Walker’s policy and procedures
- Ability to be flexible and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Ability to respond to emergencies quickly and safely
- Ability to work in a dynamic and fast paced environment
- Requires standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching, lifting, and phyisical therapeutic interventions
Preferred Qualifications: Successful candidates will posess minimally a High School Diploma or GED, Associate's Degree, or equivalent experience.
Students pursing continuing education in the following fields are also strongly encouraged to apply: Special Education, Pyschology, and Criminal Justice
Qualifications
Qualifications: Associate Degree or equivalent experience, previous experience working in a similar setting and a valid MA driver's license
