Summary of position: Under the direction of the Vice President of Needham Campus Programs, plan, direct, oversee and manage the operations and staff within Walker’s ITR/STR program on the Needham Campus. Collaborate externally with referral sources to ensure a steady flow of eligible youth. Oversee the services, education and/or treatment plans of the youth and their families to ensure they are high quality and are consistent with the goals of the Agency. Provide a safe living environment for staff, and youth and their families.
Education and Licensure
Required: Bachelor’s Degree in related field, or at least 5 years of experience in residential leadership.
Preferred: Master’s Degree in Social Work, Human Services, and/or Education preferred. Professional license in the clinical field (LICSW) preferred.
Experience
Required: Proven leadership and management experience in a multi-disciplinary setting required.
Preferred: Clinical experience preferred. Prior experience in the field of child welfare
and/or child education preferred. Knowledge of field and the Department of Children and Families’ processes and procedures.
Abilities
Required: Ability to meet deadlines and follow through with multiple projects simultaneously. Ability to respond and follow through with requests professionally. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work productively with frequent interruption. Excellent interpersonal skills to interact positively with a wide range of applicants, employees, managers and outside agencies. Must be able to sit at work station for prolonged periods of time, consistent with OSHA suggestions and requirements. Must have accurate keyboarding ability. Must have the ability to access different building locations, equipment, mailboxes, etc. Must have ability to access off campus locations. Must have ability to lift packages up to 10 pounds. Job may require bending, stooping, stretching, and lifting. Job requires the ability to perform therapeutic physical intervention as needed.
Essential functions:
- Oversee all aspects of the program. Oversee all program staff and provide regular one on one supervision to key leadership members, and others, as needed. Ensure regular feedback and guidance is provided for employee development and enhanced productivity. Promote a positive work environment and teambuilding efforts.
- Work with supervisor and campus leadership to assess, develop and implement program services appropriate to the needs of youth and their families. Ensure services are coordinated and integrated. Regularly evaluate services and implement plans, with measurable outcomes, for continual improvement.
- Establish, maintain and nurture working relationships with community agencies, and federal, state, and local agencies to ensure a steady flow of eligible youth to the program. Provide consistent excellence in customer service. Maintain all components of EEC Licensure and EEC communication (phone, email, notification via EEC Lead Portal).
- Establish, review and implement program(s) policies and procedures in accordance with EEC regulations. In consultation with supervisor, continuously consider new processes and initiatives to improve and/or expand services as appropriate. Directly participate in expansion of services.
- Maintain effective working relationships with agency staff. Leverage the breadth and depth of agency resources available to ensure the successful management of the program.
- Responsible for compliance with policies of the agency at the program level.
- Participate in the development and implementation of the annual operating budget for the program. Monitor performance against approved budget allocations, investigate variances, and implement corrective actions as necessary. Communicate with finance and leadership on issues related to budget or budget requests. Ensure payroll is complete for the program.
- Oversee the intake and discharge process and ensure all appropriate paperwork and all data entry is completed and delivered in a timely, efficient manner. Maintain program census and ensure program is following relevant agency guidelines. Communicate regularly with referral sources and maintain excellent customer service standards.
- Oversee the Medication Administration Program (MAP) including obtaining and maintain MAP certification.
- Oversee risk management and participate in crisis resolution. Review, approve and process critical incident reports.
- Develop and prepare various reports as required, such as program updates and share appropriate feedback with staff. Provide information on program goals and objectives, treatment plans, resources and other pertinent information to appropriate collaterals as needed.
- Attend meetings and represent program and agency at internal and external meetings. Act as a liaison to providers and community resources.
- When appropriate, provide direct care and/or services to clients and families in the program(s).
- Provide administrative on-call coverage for the campus on a rotating basis.
- Must have a valid MA driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Be an ambassador of Walker and consistently role model Walker’s professional culture.
- All other duties, as assigned.
Supervision to be received: Bi-weekly from the Vice President of Needham Campus Programs
Supervision to be exercised: B-weekly of ITR/STR Assistant Director and Assistant Program Manager
