Position Summary:
The senior accountant participates and leads the financial period close along with the preparation of financial statements and reporting while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This position will support the company's financial planning and analysis activities. The role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively.
Responsibilities
• Reconcile general ledger accounts., specifically cash, sub-ledger, and balance sheet accounts.
• Prepare financial statements and oversee the month-end and year-end closing processes.
• Manage and report daily cash flow, coordinating borrowings and payments as needed. Prepare weekly cash flow forecasts.
• Coordinate with external auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations for the annual audit.
• Coordinate with the external tax team to provide the necessary documentation to complete tax returns.
• Support the Controller in enhancing and implementing financial systems, policies, and procedures.
• Mentor and guide Jr accountant in areas of payroll, AP, AR, and cash reporting.
• Maintain relationships with external suppliers, including programming consultants, auditors, bank representatives, and other vendors.
• Ability to create financial reports and analyses using software and ERP tools to drive financial performance understanding and strategic business opportunities.
• Interfacing and ensuring compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Experience in budgeting and forecasting.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the accounting function.
• Ability to run payroll processing and benefits administration.
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
• Bachelor's degree in accounting required.
• 5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the professional services industry
• Proficiency in accounting software (SAP by Design preferred) and advanced Excel skills.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Understanding of general accounting principles, federal regulations, and company policies and procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Customer-focused mindset
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently, as part of a team, and with all organizational levels.
• Experience with presenting to internal groups and teams.
