What are the responsibilities and job description for the Case Manager position at Walker Law & Associates, LLC?
I. Employee Duties. The Employee agrees that they will act in accordance with this Agreement and to the best interests of the Employer, which will require them to present the best of their skills, experience, and talents, to perform all the duties required of the position.
II. Responsibilities. The Employee shall be given the job title of case manager which shall involve conducting everyday tasks from a remote and reasonably quiet location as needed by the Employer including, but not limited to:
Client Management
§ Assisting with client interviews
§ Managing schedules for clients, manage the filing, and record keeping systems within a law office
§ Finding appropriate clinical care teams best suited to each patient's needs
§ Coordinating care with a patient's clinical team
§ Assessing patients for necessary care or changes to current care plans
§ Assisting attorneys with all aspects of case management, including statutory deadlines, billing, and providing reminders as necessary
§ Establishing good working relationship with clients in order to obtain vital information required in preparing for a case
§ Responding to clients and obtain their correspondence in absence of an attorney
§ Contact clients, at a minimum of every two weeks, to update them on the progress of a case as well as reply to their enquiries
Case Management
§ Obtaining copies of police reports, investigation files, and coroner's findings
§ Assisting in preparation of drafting legal documents for attorney review
§ Reviewing legal documents to ensure adherence to all legal requirements
§ Conducting research to investigate the facts of a case in order to obtain useful information
§ Collecting, arranging, and preserving evidence and other useful document required for a legal proceeding
§ Applying organizational skills and independent case analysis
§ Exercising discretion and maintain confidential information
§ Providing effective, accurate, professional, polite, friendly, and prompt customer service to the public and other agency personnel
Client Medical Care
§ Coordinating with insurance companies or other financial services to pay for care
§ Analyzing the clinical team's methods and decisions to ensure they fit with patient care goals
§ Advocating for patients while communicating with medical, financial, or social services
§ Coordinating the transfer of patients or patient care from one team or facility to another
§ Creating patient discharge plans
§ Conducting legal research to obtain documentation regarding health insurance, social security, medical records, and medical providers
Attorney Assistance
§ Coordinating between attorneys, staff, and outside vendors to manage the law firm’s case load, present case summaries/updates, and ensure that deadlines are met
§ Consulting with attorneys and provide recommendations with regard to cost and time-effective ways to accomplish the client’s goals
§ Conducting client settlement negotiations
Law Firm Client Management Software
§ Organizing and maintaining all case files, and information concerning engagement, whether electronic or paper, in accordance with the law firm policies
§ Managing and organizing legal information by ensuring proper archiving or storage on electronic-filing systems
Bill Reductions
§ Requesting and reviewing forms, billing codes, and contract language to identify opportunities for reductions
§ Putting forth the right starting number for the best results
§ Getting creative insights on drafting the request and making a strong case for reduction
