Job Description
Walker-Miller Energy Services is seeking a creative and detail-oriented Technical Proposal Writer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for crafting clear, detailed, and visually compelling technical narratives and proposals that align with our brand. You will collaborate closely with the Lead Proposal Manager and cross-functional teams, integrating technical content from subject matter experts (SMEs) and supporting the development of graphical elements such as conceptual frameworks and diagrams. Your expertise will enhance Walker-Miller's proposal library and streamline the proposal development process.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Content Development: Write and develop well-structured, technically compliant proposals that address the specific requirements of RFPs. Translate complex information from SMEs into concise and reader-friendly content.
- Collaboration with SMEs: Consult with engineering, software, and technology experts to write, review, and modify technical documents, ensuring clarity, accuracy, and adherence to proposal guidelines.
- Graphical Support: Collaborate with the design lead to conceptualize and create visual elements (e.g., theory of change, logic frameworks, conceptual diagrams) that enhance the technical narrative. Orient teams on how to integrate and utilize these graphics effectively.
- PowerPoint Development: Create engaging and detailed PowerPoint presentations that align with Walker-Miller's brand and style, incorporating both narrative and graphical content to support proposals.
- Proposal Library Enhancement: Continuously improve and expand the proposal content library, incorporating Walker-Miller's proposal writing tools to enhance efficiency and consistency.
- Pre-Canned Proposal Content: Collaborate with the Proposal Manager to develop reusable content that maintains consistent messaging across proposals.
- Template Development: Design and maintain a library of templates for different types of proposals to streamline future responses while ensuring customization for specific client needs.
- Consistency & Editing: Proofread and edit content created by team members to ensure clarity, accuracy, and compliance with style and format guidelines. Adopt a uniform writing style across all platforms for consistency.
- User-Friendly Content: Integrate user-friendly content in illustrations, graphs, and infographics, ensuring enhanced readability and comprehension for the target audience.
- User Research & Feedback: Conduct research on user feedback and incorporate revisions to improve the overall quality of technical content.
- Project Reporting: Report regularly to the Proposal Manager on the progress of technical content development and ensure adherence to deadlines.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work across departments, including with SMEs, graphic designers, and the proposal team to gather input, review content, and finalize proposals.
Basic Qualifications:
- Creative & Analytical Thinking: Ability to conceptualize visually appealing proposals while translating complex technical data into accessible content.
- Strong Writing & Editing Skills: Expertise in technical writing, editing, and proofreading, with a focus on accuracy, clarity, and compliance with RFP requirements.
- PowerPoint Expertise: Skilled in developing detailed and aesthetically appealing PowerPoint presentations that align with brand and client needs.
- Collaboration with SMEs: Proven ability to work effectively with engineers, software developers, and other technical experts to write accurate and compelling content.
- Graphical & Visual Content Creation: Experience in developing and collaborating on technical diagrams, graphs, and infographics to enhance technical narratives.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Proposal Tools Familiarity: Experience with proposal management software and tools to organize, create, and enhance proposal documents.
- Uniform Writing Style: Ability to adopt a consistent writing style across platforms and ensure compliance with company branding and tone.
Preferred Education and Qualifications:
- Previous experience in energy, sustainability, or technical sectors.
- Experience working on large-scale RFP responses or in a highly regulated industry.
