Job Description: Full Time Pharmacy Technician
***MUST be REGISTERED with Georgia Board of Pharmacy (RPhT). PTCB Certification (CPhT) is preferred, but not required to apply.
***MUST HAVE OPEN AVAILABILITY Monday-Friday. Schedule will be 4 days per week from 9 AM to 5:30 PM. NO WEEKENDS!
***Starting Pay Rate is based on Pharmacy experience level.
Reports To:
The Pharmacy Technician reports to the PIC (Pharmacist-In-Charge) at their pharmacy location. FT Techs may report to other technicians for specific things like scheduling, compliance, etc.
Job Overview:
The Pharmacy Tech is primarily responsible for assisting the pharmacist in filling prescriptions and taking care of customers. This position requires a broad range of duties - all of which must be performed with consistent excellence. The most important duties are to ensure prescriptions are filled correctly and efficiently AND to ensure the right patient gets the right medication every time. This requires a high level of focus at all times and constant communication with other members of the pharmacy team.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Show up at least 10 minutes prior to start of shift
- Find coverage for yourself if unable to work a specific shift or day - always communicate changes to lead scheduling technicians and pharmacists at your pharmacy location.
- Ensure opening and closing checklists are completed and the pharmacy department is always organized and ready to meet the needs of the team.
- Assist Pharmacist in the filling of prescriptions: Data entry, insurance processing, running refills, pulling correct drug (check NDC!), and utilizing KirbyLester machines to accurately count or measure prescriptions.
- Inventory management - Sticker order daily, put up order daily, confirm and update order, check and update counts on al manually updated or substituted items, assist pharmacist in preparing and sending orders at close of business day.
- Answer phones quickly (1-2 rings), assisting the customer when possible and transferring to appropriate team member when needed.
- Ensure all customers in store (register or OTC section) and at the window are helped in a timely manner - when multiple customers need assistance, communicate with other staff to request help.
- ALWAYS greet customers with a smile and seek to be as helpful, empathetic, and courteous as humanly possible. You are the FACE of Walker to many patients.
- Follow Bagging Protocol carefully every time!
- Text patients when prescriptions are ready before hanging.
- Call patient if any noted are present to explain (instead of texting)
- Assist with RTS protocol on designated day by re-texting and calling if needed.
- Assist in leading and training other new or junior staff members - always hold your team members to the high standard that you know is expected of everyone.
- If you see a problem, say something! Let your pharmacist know immediately if there is a problem and be a part of the solution.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area at all times in the pharmacy!
Unacceptable Behavior:
- Showing up late - ALWAYS be clocked in and ready to work at least 10 minutes before shift begins
- Unexcused absences - failing to work your shift without finding proper coverage and/or without communicating changes with your pharmacist for approval
- Abusing or wasting company time while on the clock (I.e. doing anything other than the tasks needed to complete your job)
- Personal cell phone use while working
- Personal internet use unrelated to your normal business duties or tasks specifically assigned by pharmacist
Dress Code:
- Scrubs (Monday – Burgundy; Tuesday & Thursday – Navy; Wednesday & Friday – Charcoal Gray)
- Professional Dress

- Men must wear collared shirts tucked in at all times
- No Flip Flops or Casual Sandals
Qualifications:
- Pharmacy tech registration
- Punctuality
- Professionalism
- Basic computer skills - growing knowledge of our systems (RXQ, BZQ, PrescribeWellness, etc.)
- Excellent communication skills
- Desire to serve and help customers face-to-face and on the phone
- Ability to stand on feet for long shifts and move around constantly to help customers and assist other members of pharmacy team
- Team-oriented attitude
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $12.00 - $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
