Walker, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supporting children, youth, and families through therapeutic and educational programs. Founded in 1961, programs include an array of residential, learning, and counseling services. The Advancement Department partners with a caring community of donors and volunteers through a variety of fundraising events and initiatives.

The Senior Director of Advancement, Individual & Magor Gifts works closely with the Advancement Team to guide and implement strategic department planning and strategy as it relates to individual donors. This position will serve as one of three senior directors and a key member of the Advancement department responsible for stewarding and securing charitable support from individual donors. Through management of a portfolio of mid-level and major donors and active development of a pipeline of new donors, this position will sustain and increase support from individuals. The Senior Director, Individual & Major Gifts will envision new initiatives and / or develop ways to enhance existing strategies to grow relationships and giving from individual donors.

Duties and Responsibilities :

Strategy Development :

  • Develop a comprehensive individual and major gifts strategy aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Identify potential individual and major gift prospects and create personalized cultivation plans for each donor

Donor Cultivation and Engagement :

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and prospective major donors. Meet with 10 -15 donors monthly.
  • Organize and oversee donor cultivation events, personalized meetings, and engagement activities.
  • Prepare and write briefings for supervisor and senior leadership.
  • Develop and implement stewardship plans to ensure ongoing engagement and retention of major donors.
  • Fundraising and Solicitation :

  • Collaborate with the Advancement Team, senior leadership, President & CEO, and board members to engage them in donor cultivation and solicitation activities.
  • Create compelling fundraising materials, proposals, and presentations tailored to major gift prospects.
  • Data Management and Reporting :

  • Maintain accurate records of donor interactions and manage donor information in the Raiser’s Edge donor database.
  • Generate regular reports to track progress, analyze fundraising metrics, and evaluate the effectiveness of strategies.
  • Collaboration and Coordination :

  • Work closely with the Advancement and leadership teams to integrate individual and major gifts initiatives into overall fundraising efforts.
  • Work with donors, the President & CEO, board members, partners, and independently to open doors to potential major gift donors and leverage existing relationships.
  • Research and Prospect Identification :

  • Conduct research to identify new potential individual and major gift prospects.
  • Analyze donor-giving patterns and wealth indicators to prioritize and qualify prospects.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

    Education and Licensure :   Bachelor’s Degree

    Skills & Qualifications :

  • 7-10 years fundraising experience and / or a nonprofit development office demonstrating position requirements.
  • Positive relationship management skills and the ability to connect with donors and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and follow through with multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Positive team management skills.
  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities based on pressing needs.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to respond to and follow through with requests quickly and professionally.
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends hours as required
  • Must be able to sit at workstation for prolonged periods of time, consistent with OSHA standards.
  • Must have the ability to access different building locations, initiative / event locations, equipment, mailboxes, kitchen, etc.
  • Must have the ability to lift packages up to 15 pounds.
  • Must have access to transportation to / from initiative or event locations outside of office location.
  • Must have the ability to order, pick-up, and / or deliver supplies for initiatives / events if needed.
