Position Overview
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will lead Walker|West’s finance, accounting, operations, technology, and facilities strategy, ensuring long-term financial sustainability and efficiency. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the COO will provide strategic planning, financial oversight, and operational leadership to advance the Academy’s mission. This role requires a strong financial background, leadership experience, and a passion for community-driven music education.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, and risk management to ensure sustainability
- Develop financial models balancing revenue streams and expenses
- Oversee accounting, audits, compliance, and regulatory requirements
- Manage operations, technology, and facilities to optimize efficiency
- Directly supervise up to 7 team members, fostering collaboration and excellence
- Align operational and programmatic strategy with Walker|West’s mission and growth goals
- Ensure internal controls, cash flow management, and accurate financial reporting
- Guide evaluation processes to measure impact and align with strategic priorities
- Serve as a key advisor to the Executive Director and Board of Directors
