The Career Services Specialist fosters career readiness by assisting students with exploring degree and certificate options and specializes in helping undecided students identify and navigate their educational and career pathways. This position is responsible for coordinating and providing Career Center services such as career interest assessments, resume workshops, labor market research, recruitment events and other employment readiness activities. The Career Services Specialist develops, tracks, and monitors work-based learning opportunities such as field experience, internships, service-learning and cooperative work experiences, and facilitates placement in these career-connected practices.

This position is funded from a grant awarded under the Carol D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act of 2006, as implemented by the Washington State Board of Community and Technical Colleges. Project Number 0000009903. This position is subject to continued federal funding and is currently funded through June 30, 2025.
Compensation:
Annual salary range for initial placement based on the represented exempt salary schedule is PR02, Step A-F: $59,483 - $67,299, with scheduled salary increment increases every 12 months until you reach the top of the scale. The college has an excellent benefit program including paid sick leave; paid vacation leave; medical, dental, life, and long-term disability insurance; retirement and two optional deferred compensation programs. All full-time employees will automatically have 3% of taxable income deferred into the State of Washington Deferred Compensation Program (DCP). All administrative exempt staff set aside 1% of their gross salary in a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA) (VEBA). All exempt employees are required to participate in this program. Career Pathway Development
- Administer career assessments and engage in intentional discussions with undecided students to assist them with exploring career paths relevant to their interests, skills, and/or needs.
- Provide detailed information on degree options and coursework aligned with preparing students for intended career pathways.
- Work with Navigators and faculty to expand network of employers in targeted career pathway industry sectors; maintain up-to-date knowledge of labor market trends and career-related opportunities.
- Assist individuals and/or groups with job-seeking strategies such as resume development, interviewing skills, LinkedIn profile creation, etc.
- Partner with campus departments, community organizations and area employers to develop opportunities for students to gain real-world information and exposure to career pathways through field experience, job shadowing, internships, service-learning and other employer-connected experiences.
Coordination and Administration
- Develop and provide Career Center program resources and services including workshops, networking events, employer recruitment opportunities, etc.
- Assist with development and maintenance of webpage, social media and overall marketing and outreach efforts of the Career Center.
- Oversee the College’s career office management platform (Career Services Central) and connect students to associated resources.
- Facilitate student connection to campus employment (federal work study, state work study, and student help) as well as unsubsidized employment in the community.
- Track and monitor work-based learning-related data through Career Services Central.
- Develop and foster positive and collaborative working relationships with college and community stakeholders to ensure WWCC’s Career Center services meet student needs.
Communication and Collaboration
- Establish and maintain effective partnerships and work collaboratively with multiple stakeholders including students, faculty, and prospective employers.
- Develop and grow inventory of local and regional employers to create a wide-ranging network of placement sites for student work-based learning.
- Coordinate and collaborate with other college departments and community agencies for the purpose of enhancing student resources and support (i.e. workshops, referrals, etc.).
- Provide training and support for faculty regarding work-based learning and the use of Career Services Central to track and evaluate career-connected learning.
- Attend academic advising trainings, department and division meetings.
- Excellent communication skills across various educational levels through written, electronic, and verbal methods.
- Strong interpersonal skills and cultural competency; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, colleagues, colleges, the community, industry, and media contacts.
- Enthusiastic, energetic, self-motivated, and creative.
- Strong organizational skills.

Required Qualifications:
