The current annual salary range for this position is $92,000-$110,000. Wallenius Wilhelmsen team members are also eligible for annual merit-based salary adjustments, and participation in competitive benefit programs. Some roles in the company may offer an additional annual bonus. Additional details on salary or pay ranges and benefits will be available through the interview and employment process. Salary or pay ranges are separate from bonus opportunities and/or benefit plans. As a Marine Manager, you will oversee terminal operations to achieve key goals, including safety, quality, cost efficiency, service delivery, employee wellbeing, and environmental sustainability. You will build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders such as terminal/port authorities, customs agents, vessel crews, and staffing partners. Your ability to foster collaboration and address challenges will be essential to ensuring efficient, effective operations.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Analyze vessel layouts, cargo mix, turn-around timelines, labor, and staging areas to develop actionable discharge/load plans for customer vessels.
- Communicate and direct third parties (vessel crews, planners, agents, stevedores) to ensure safe, efficient, and damage-free cargo handling.
- Adjust plans based on changing conditions, priorities, or resources, guiding stakeholders to implement necessary changes.
- Manage equipment forecasts and inventories, coordinating maintenance with mechanics to ensure all resources are available and in working order.
- Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions on vessels, collaborating with mechanics and ILA foremen to minimize operational disruptions.
- Serve as liaison between internal/external customers, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders to ensure smooth vessel operations and issue resolution.
- Lead KPI performance (Safety, Quality, Cost, Productivity, Service Delivery, Environmental), ensuring targets are met, while maintaining customer guidelines and reporting requirements.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
- A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience in marine terminal operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of vessel and terminal operations, including labor contracts, safety regulations, and environmental compliance.
- Proven ability to build professional relationships, execute safe and efficient operations, and resolve issues quickly.
- Skilled in managing time, multitasking, and using MS Office programs.
- Demonstrates a strong work ethic, initiative, and strategic thinking to improve processes and lead teams.
- Excellent communication, decision-making, and negotiation skills in a fast-paced, change-driven environment.
- Customer-focused with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
