Pay: Hiring Range ($93,766.40 - $108,160) DOQ
Reporting: Assistant Fire Chief
Supervises: Facilities Manager, Equipment Manager, Quartermaster, EVTs and maintenance techs
Job Description:
Under the general direction of the Assistant Fire Chief, the purpose of this position is to perform responsible management of the Support Services Division of Waller-Harris Emergency Services District 200. This position operates at the middle management level and is responsible for overseeing and ensuring the efficiency and effectiveness of the support functions within that division. This position works with considerable independence in their day-to-day operations, however, at times will work closely with administrative and command staff.
Essential Duties:
Responsible for ensuring that all support services are maintained, and evaluated to ensure Fire and EMS operations are supported.
- Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned employees and members, processing concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee and call personnel performance standard evaluations
- Supervise inventory management of equipment, supplies and materials
- Prioritize and monitor support services as they relate to vehicle, facility, and equipment maintenance.
- Prioritize and manage preventive maintenance
- Evaluate the needs of the support services division to ensure adequate support is maintained for Fire and EMS operations
- Evaluation of operational and capital needs of the support services division to ensure efficiency
- Evaluate the need to expand internal capabilities within the support services division
- Reconcile equipment compliance documentation
- Manage state compliance records, to include vendor certification, annual inspections, cleaning, repairs and maintenance
- Submit purchase orders through authorized systems, to meet District needs
- Document purchasing, shipping and receiving of equipment to and from vendors
- Ensure compliance with NFPA, TCFP, and other applicable laws and regulations
- Make recommendations of needs for support services
- Develop and maintain support services budget

Preferred Experience:
Inventory management, fire and emergency medical services equipment, materials purchasing
Office, budget administration, logistics, supply chain management, human resources related fields
Required Skills:
Comfortable with office equipment, to include office computing, printing and scanning
Must also be familiar with MS Office, especially Excel spreadsheet, Word and Outlook
Familiarity with fire department equipment, supplies and records
Attention to detail with legal documentation in mind
Ability, and acceptable driving record, to operate district vehicles
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) compliance records
Familiarity with National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standards
Familiarity with Texas Department of State Health Services regulations
Texas Commission on Fire Protection (TCFP) certifications
Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) certifications
Work Environment:
Ability to work in extreme weather conditions to include heat, humidity, cold, rain and freezing weather
Ability to sit, stand and walk for extended periods
Ability to lift 25 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds
Ability to work abnormal, extended, or flexible hours occasionally
May be subject to recall after hours
