Job Title: School Age Childcare Assistant Teacher Status: Part-Time

POSITION SUMMARY:
Assist the Head Teacher in carrying out the daily curriculum for the school age program
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Assist with daily activities (snack preparation, organized physical activities, arts & crafts projects, etc.)
- Promotes feelings of mutual respect, acceptance, and appreciation among youth and adults
- Creates a safe environment that helps all youth feel welcome and respected
- Assist in maintenance of a clean facility
- Employs positive behavior guidance strategies that provide youth with increased self-awareness and self-control
- Attend mandatory meetings and trainings
- Arrive at work on time and clock in properly
- Maintain a consistent attendance record
- Notify Head Teacher and Director if it is necessary to be absent from scheduled hours.
- Actively participate in all activities
- Interacts with youth in a positive, warm and nurturing manner
- Understands and maintains personal boundaries with youth (e.g., physical space, time, etc.)
- Develops and maintains open, friendly, cooperative, and respectful relationships with families and other partners
- Encourages an open exchange of ideas
- Uses effective listening and verbal skills, including positive body language and tone of voice
- Promotes duties as requested by and director.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Must have experience working with children ages 5-10
- Must meet all State of Connecticut licensing requirements (negative TB test, good health report, First Aid / CPR certification)
- Must have the ability and desire to work with children
