What are the responsibilities and job description for the Bilingual (Spanish) Swim Instructor position at WALLINGFORD FAMILY YMCA?
GENERAL FUNCTION:
Under the direction of the Sr. Director of Aquatics & Community Development, the Bilingual (Spanish) Swim Instructor conducts swim lessons in accordance with the goals, policies, and procedures of the Wallingford Family YMCA. The instructor is responsible for assisting in providing and maintaining a safe pool environment for all members and participants, while effectively communicating with Spanish-speaking participants and their families to ensure a positive and inclusive experience.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English required.
- YMCA Swim Instructor certification, or equivalent preferred.
- CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, and First Aid certifications required within 90 days.
- YMCA Lifeguarding or American Red Cross certification preferred.
- Must be able to demonstrate swim instructor skills in accordance with YMCA standards.
- At least 16 years of age.
TRAINING:
Upon hire, swim instructors will receive a full orientation to the Wallingford YMCA Aquatics Facility. This shall include a full briefing on the Wallingford Family YMCA Emergency Action Plan, Bloodborne Pathogen policy, crisis policy, a tour of the facility to identify safety and first aid equipment, and an orientation on water testing procedures.
