Wallingford-Swarthmore School District believes in all students. Under the supervision of the Principal, the successful candidate assists instructional personnel in reinforcing instruction to individual or small groups of students in an assigned classroom or other learning environment; may provide a variety of instructional and behavioral supports to individual students one-on-one; assists in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of lesson plans.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 60 college credits required
Associates or Bachelor's degree preferred
Active PA Teaching Certificate highly preferred
Responsibilities:
- Provides a variety of instructional and behavior support to individual or groups of students.
- Assists in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Tutors individual or small groups of students to reinforce concepts/instruction presented by the teacher (reading, math and other subjects)
- Assists teaching staff with the creation of learning/instructional materials, bulletin boards and school-wide activities
- Organizes materials for various classroom projects and help with modifications or adaptions for students
- Assists students in completing assignments.
- Assists in the implementation and reinforcement of Positive Behavior Support Plans.
- Assists students with performing and developing proper social behavior, personal hygiene and self-help skills including toileting students, changing diapers and soiled clothing as assigned by the position.
- Escorts students to and from designated locations and in various settings.
- May need to assist students in wheelchairs by pushing wheelchairs.
- Communicates with teachers and certificated personnel to support students’ needs and progress.
- Clerical duties such as photocopying, scoring papers, recording grades and filing
- Monitors students during lunch and recess times (cafeteria and playground)
- Assist teachers with attendance procedures, maintaining records, typing and technology
- Perform other duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position
