Job Description:

As a Veterinary Technician, you will play a vital role in assisting our veterinarians in providing the highest standard of care for our patients. You will work with a team of professionals to provide medical, surgical, and emergency care, as well as offer support to pet owners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist doctors in appointments and emergencies acquiring pertinent medical history, vitals, animal restraint, vaccinations.
  • Perform blood collection, IV catheter placement efficiently and sterilely.
  • Administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
  • Knowledge of dosing and administration route protocols and common contraindications.
  • Perform laboratory tests, such as blood work and urinalysis.
  • Assist veterinarian in all aspects during surgical procedures: premedication, operating or dental room setup, patient induction, preparation and maintenance of general anesthesia, surgical monitoring, surgical assisting, recovery, post op orders, pain management protocols.
  • Monitor and care for hospitalized animals, providing routine treatments and observing their condition.
  • Take and process radiographs (Xrays).
  • Maintain accurate medical records and update patient information.
  • Educate pet owners on proper care, nutrition, and medical conditions.
  • Clean and sterilize surgical instruments and equipment.
  • Ensure a clean and organized clinic environment.

Qualifications:

  • Certification in Veterinary Technology from an accredited program is a plus, but not required.
  • Previous experience in a veterinary clinic or animal care setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately. Must be able to frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Proficiency with veterinary software and medical equipment.
  • A genuine love for animals and a commitment to their wellbeing.
