Walmart is seeking a highly skilled Staff Data Scientist with a strong background in Machine Learning, Statistics, and Personalization algorithms to join our Personalization team. With expertise in deep learning, designing and deploying highly scalable Recommenders Systems for e-commerce, you'll play a critical role in driving innovation and growth for our company.
The Personalization team consists of platform, application engineers, scientists and product visionaries all working together to design, prototype and build technology-driven products and experiences that will change the future landscape of e-commerce. We are focused on building the global service layer that will enable the end-to-end customer experience, from finding the product to delivering it to the customer. This will span many markets, business models and form factors; therefore, we are looking for data scientists who will bring not only the experiences in technologies, but the curiosity and capability to innovate. About Team:
Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.
What you'll do:
- Research, design, and implement data models and cutting edge algorithms on high-dimensional, fast-moving, unstructured and structured data.
- Process complicated and large scale datasets using distributed computing platform, extract insights from data, predict future trends, and optimize towards business metrics.
- Build advanced feature extraction algorithms that feed into various advertising applications, including audience targeting, relevance and ranking, measurement and optimization.
- Build machine learning and statistical models to predict or estimate key signals that are used to optimize advertising product performance.
- Run large scale statistical A/B testing to evaluate performance of machine learning and statistical models in advertising applications which serve hundreds of millions of impressions per day.
- Build compelling data visualizations and interactive dashboards for monitoring and sharing business insights internally and externally.
What you'll bring:
- Master's degree/PHD in Data science, Computer Science or related fields with 5 years of practical experience
- Expertise in Machine Learning, Statistics, Personalization and Item Recommendation algorithms
- Experience in data science and building and evaluating large scale machine learning & deep learning models
- Experience in designing and deploying highly scalable Recommenders Systems for e-commerce
- Curiosity in state-of-the-art techniques in recommendation related areas
- Exceptional business acumen and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to prototype and implement complex AI solutions
- Outstanding communication, leadership, and written skills
