School-Age Teacher

We are hiring Teachers for our School Age Classrooms!

At Walnut Street Daycare Center children learn through play, instruction and exploration. Various types of play assist in the development of the overall child. Thus, children can develop social, emotional, intellectual and physical skills through safe and enjoyable experiences.

We are in search of a fun loving, organized individual to be a teacher for our School Age Program. This would be before school, after school, days off school, winter and summer breaks. Responsibilities’ would be, but not limited to: supervision, homework help, lesson planning (art/craft, STEM, read aloud, etc.), classroom management, classroom janitorial duties, bulletin boards, playing games, having meaningful conversations, creating an environment and relationship with the children that is safe, nurturing and comfortable.

Job Type: Full-time Teachers (Summer and Year Round)

Salary: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour (based off of schooling and experience)

Teacher Qualifications:

• Self-motivated, flexible, and energetic with excellent communication skills
• Classroom management skills with school age children while planning fun activities and supervising on field-trips.

• Must meet DCFS requirements for School age Teacher Qualifications:
• At least 19 years of age and have a High School Diploma
• 30 semester hours with 6 or more hours in course related directly to school-age care, child care and/or child development, elementary education, recreation, or a related field
• OR 1560 clock hours of experience in a recreational program or licensed day care center serving school-age children or a license exempt school-age child care program operated by a public or private school, and 6 or more hours in course related directly to school-age care, child care and/or child development, elementary education, recreation, or a related field
• OR A high school diploma or equivalency certificate plus 3120 clock hours of experience in a recreational program, kindergarten, or licensed day care center serving school-age children or a license exempt school-age child care program operated by a public or private school.
