What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Biller position at Walrath Recruiting, Inc.?
Key Responsibilities:
- Missing Charges & Edits: Run and manage missing charge reports, edits, and denials lists. Process appeal submissions and ensure timely posting of denials in the billing system.
- Payment Posting: Act as a backup to post all payments in the system as required.
- Accounts Receivable Management: Work daily on Accounts Receivable reports, check claims status, resubmit claims, and write appeal letters for outstanding claims.
- Credit Balance Management: Work with credit balance reports to ensure compliance with government regulations and payer guidelines.
- Claims Analysis: Analyze claims system reports to identify underpayments and ensure proper collections from key carriers. Review billing issues, provide recommendations, and work to resolve discrepancies.
- Payer Knowledge: Maintain up-to-date knowledge of third-party payer requirements, policies, and changes to ensure accurate billing practices.
- Billing System Updates: Ensure that the billing system is updated with current-year rates for accurate billing.
Qualifications:
- Experience: Prior experience in medical billing is required; experience with physician billing is a plus.
- Healthcare Claims: Knowledge of health claims and experience with computerized medical billing systems in a healthcare environment is essential.
- ICD/CPT Coding: Familiarity with ICD and CPT coding.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.) with strong attention to detail.
- Compliance & Accuracy: Strong ability to ensure billing processes comply with regulations and guidelines while maintaining high levels of accuracy.
Hours & Benefits:
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM
- Location: In-office position
