We are seeking a Corporate Controller to join our Portland, OR office. This position is not remote, and some travel to the other Walsh offices in Vancouver, Tacoma, and Seattle, WA will be required as this position is an integral part of all locations.
Essential Responsibilities of this role include:
- Leading day-today finance operations including maintaining the general ledger, preparing regular financial reports, and overseeing the A/R, A/P, Subcontracts Payable and Payroll processes.
- Conducting monthly analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts, prepares monthly journal entries, and ensures the overall integrity of the general ledger.
- Managing the monthly, quarterly and year end close process, ensuring the accurate and timely reporting of all financial information.
- Overseeing the A/R, A/P, Subcontractor Payable and Payroll functions ensuring processes are in place and carried out to effectively manage cash flow.
- Preparing and monitoring internal control processes and managing the accounting system to ensure the integrity of the company’s financial data.
- Establishing and maintaining systems and controls to safeguard the financial resources of the business.
- Ensuring adequacy of company’s internal controls and compliance with company plans, policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
- Working with CPA firm to plan for and efficiently conduct our annual audit.
- Guiding and directing the work of the finance team, coaching, mentoring, and developing them for continual improvement.
- Managing A/R, A/P, Subcontracts Payable and Payroll functions.
- Monitoring daily activities to ensure work is performed timely and accurately.
- Hiring, orientating, training, coaching, and appraising department staff.
You are qualified if you have:
- A four-year degree in finance or business. CPA preferred but not required with the appropriate amount of experience.
- Public accounting/financial statement preparation experience.
- Three to five years of construction accounting background and prior supervisory experience.
- Solid knowledge of GAAP and company financial policies and procedures and can prepare accurate and timely financial statements.
- The ability to meet multiple deadlines, stay organized, and are very detail oriented.
- The ability to self-direct and exercise good business judgment in daily decisions.
- Good communication skills and ability to interact with people at all levels.
- The ability to develop team relations and lead, direct, train, coach, develop, and motivate others.
- The skills to work with a variety of people at different levels within the organization and effectively manage third-party relationships.
- Proficient experience in Excel, Word, Outlook, and financial accounting and reporting systems – preferably Viewpoint Vista software, Crystal Reports, Spreadsheet Server, and Autodesk Construction Cloud Software.
