Position Summary
The Assistant Coach-Football-Casual will assist the Head Coach in all facets of the program with the emphasis teaching and mentoring team members relative to sport specific skill. NCAA II rules and regulations, individual and team development concepts as well as life skills education. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Head Coach. This is a casual, stipend position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assists the Head coach in managing and directing the program
- Assists the Head Coach with all aspects of the program including training, practices, player instruction, game preparation, competing and scheduling.
- Assists in the coordination of travel arrangements.
- Assists in the completion and processing of paper work as requested.
- Assist with recruiting including calling prospective student athletes, evaluating high school, junior college, and transfer players. Maintaining a data system based on NCAA compliance assistant program.
- Works cooperatively with personnel in the athletic department. Attends department meetings and activities. Represents the university and football program positively when engaging in public with community, alumni, coaches, media and general public.
- Responsible for abiding by NCAA II compliance rules and legislation as well as education student athletes about those rules.
- Failure to comply be NCAA II rules will be grounds for discipline and/ or termination.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Head Coach and the Vice president for Athletics/Athletic Director.

Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
Education: Bachelor’s degree required.
Work Experience: At least 3 years’ experience in the sport of Football, including playing and/or coaching. Other significant experience relative to coaching and/or the administration of an intercollegiate athletics program can be considered.
Skills and abilities:
- Professional demeanor and ability to interact with charity towards students, staff and faculty. Positive attitude a must.

- Must be able to handle and communicate over loud noises indoors and outdoors; whistles, crowd noise; yelling and screaming.
