Position Summary
Walsh University’s Office of First Year Student Success and Academic Advising is seeking a graduate assistant (GA) to aid in initial academic advising reasonability of first year, transfer and college credit plus students. The GA will assist the office with programming, student success outreach, and faculty collaboration. The GA must possess effective communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment. This position is a two-year commitment and is part-time 20 hours per week.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist with student advising needs for specific major or academic field
- Collect College Credit Plus Data and submit reports to departments as needed.
- Provide opportunities for student programing relating to academic policies, procedures, and best practices
- Manage front desk and serve as the first point of contact for student service
- Assist in collaboration efforts as need within the Academic Services departments
- Maintaining the confidentiality of student information as required by the university, state, and federal regulations
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Must understand and support the Mission, Vision and Code of Ethical Conduct of Walsh University, as a Catholic higher education university as expressed in Ex Corde Ecclesiae, and possess the following:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree required and admittance into a Graduate Program at the University. This position is available to full-time Walsh University graduate students only.

- Excellent creativity, organization, and planning skills;
- Ability to work with others, as well as work independently;
- Ability to adapt to various responsibilities and tasks during as needed
- Has a strong ability to establish relationships and connection with various members of the campus community
