What are the responsibilities and job description for the Lower School Spanish Teacher position at Walsingham Academy?
Walsingham Academy seeks a full-time Lower School Spanish Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year. The teacher is responsible for providing an Introduction to Spanish through weekly instruction in grades K-3 and 4-5 days per week in grades 4-7. Candidates for this position will demonstrate a passion for teaching young children, as well as an understanding of the social, emotional, and intellectual development of children ages 5-13.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with members of the faculty and administration to support the educational, social and emotional development of students
- Communicate proactively and effectively with parents
- Participate as an active member of teaching teams to support curriculum development and integration
- Work closely with teaching team members, Learning Specialists, and School Counselor to identify and address student learning needs
- Model excellent problem solving and project management skills and a commitment to viewing challenges as problems that can be solved rather than obstacles that cannot be overcome
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Spanish or related fields
- Bilingual and fluent (writing and speaking) in English and Spanish
- Experience teaching at the elementary through middle school level
- Excellent classroom management, communication and organizational skills
- Ability to teach students with diverse learning styles
- Ability to manage new initiatives from concept to completion
Bachelors degree required.
