We are looking for a self-driven individual contributor who will perform as part of a multi-disciplined engineering team involved in designing, implementing, and sustaining show control systems for park attractions, live shows, and interactive experiences on land and at sea globally.
The Global Engineering and Technology (GET) Show Systems team comprises engineers and technologists who provide show hardware, software, and show programming services for Disney Experiences creative and operational lines of business. As a show systems Controls Engineer, you will perform various engineering tasks, including system requirements development, analysis, and design, as well as system verification and validation to ensure new systems operate efficiently, reliably, and safely. A successful candidate must be able to work with multiple stakeholders and partners from all levels of the organization to determine data and requirements-driven technical solutions.
ResponsibilitiesPrimary duties include:
Assist or lead all avenues of the engineering process, including but not limited to: Investigation, Design, Development, Deployment, Integration, Close-out, Training, and Sustainment.
Work as part of a creative team to build new show offerings and bring creative intent to fruition through technology.
Implement design specifications for cybersecurity and networking compliance.
Integrate SIL-compliant safety solutions within a PLC environment.
Communicate clearly and concisely with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally for up to 3-month durations, including Disney Cruise Line.
Ability to develop control system equipment requirements and specifications.
Hands-on experience designing, coding, testing, debugging, and deploying large-scale control systems.
In-depth understanding of network communication and protocols.
Understanding of PLC hardware and software implementation.
Ability to manage resourcing, budgets, and timelines against project milestones.
Electrical and troubleshooting skills (voltmeter, oscilloscope, etc.).
Experienced in fail-safe and safety-related control system design.
Ability to read, write, understand and translate multiple software languages (C, C , C#, Python, Node JS, Structured Text).
Experience with entertainment control system hardware (AMX, Navigator, Beckhoff TwinCAT, V16, or similar devices).
Expertise with interactive/game engine environments (Touch Designer, Unreal, Unity).
Expertise with different show/industrial communication methodologies (MIDI, RS-232, DMX, sACN, Artnet, Posistagenet, EAP, EtherCAT, Ethernet/IP, Modbus).
Experience installing and troubleshooting electric motor, hydraulic and pneumatic actuators.
Experience with version control systems (i.e. git, svn).
Experience creating and reading CAD drawings.
B.S. in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or other related technical or engineering discipline, or 5 years in a professional control systems engineering environment.
