Manager responsible for the operation of the department, which is focused on receiving, storage and shipment of materials. The job typically requires technical or business training beyond high school and 5 years of experience, or equivalent. Responsible, either directly or through subordinate supervisors, for the direction and coordination of all the warehousing activities of the facility. Typical subordinate activities are the receiving, storage, and shipment of raw materials and/or finished goods and the maintenance of inventory control records. May be responsible for the movement of materials and goods within the facility. May also have responsibility for incoming and outgoing trucks, and/or export activities.Walt's Wholesale Meats, Inc. is an at will employer.
- Supervise the activities of workers engaged in receiving, storing, testing, and shipping products or materials.
- Plan, develop, or implement warehouse safety and security programs and activities.
- Inspect physical conditions of warehouses, vehicle fleets, or equipment and order testing, maintenance, repairs, or replacements.
- Respond to customer or shipper questions and complaints regarding storage and distribution services.
- Develop and document standard and emergency operating procedures for receiving, handling, storing, shipping, or salvaging products or materials.
- Review invoices, work orders, consumption reports, or demand forecasts to estimate peak delivery periods and to issue work assignments.
- Monitor inventory levels of products or materials in warehouses.
- Develop storage and distribution models that include factors such as warehouse locations, customer locations, or available transportation modes to maximize operational efficiency or sustainability.
- Track and trace goods while they are in route to their destinations, expediting orders when necessary.
- Prepare and manage departmental budgets.
- Ensure Data Loggers are placed on required loads.
- Perform duties as assigned.
