WALTER CLARK LEGAL GROUP is seeking a highly motivated, well-qualified Attorney to join our Workers’ Compensation team.
WCLG is one of the top plaintiff personal injury and applicant worker's compensation legal firms in southern California. We have over 42 years of excellence and have helped thousands of injured persons. We are seeking to add an additional attorney to our vibrant and energetic worker’s compensation team.
What We Are Looking For.. .
Ideally, 3 years’ experience in Workers’ Compensation
Trial Experience is a plus.
Requirements
Currently admitted to a State Bar (good standing) or pending Bar results
Valid CA Driver’s License
Responsibilities
Perform Initial Case Evaluation & Develop Case Strategy
Manage & handle a caseload of 150 – 250 workers’ compensation cases in a profitable manner.
Analyzing records and reports.
Ability to assign, delegate & oversee appropriate tasks, duties, and work product of paralegals, case managers, legal assistants, and / or other office staff assigned to assist the attorney with the handling of the caseload.
Ability to conduct effective discovery to procure the evidence necessary for successful litigation
Ability to understand and evaluate medical records & medical legal reports, synthesize them under American Medical Association Guides to Permanent Disability 5th Edition criteria, to determine appropriate case value and draft settlement demands
Ability to negotiate settlements and make appropriate recommendations to the client regarding all legal issues involved with or affected by their workers’ compensation matter
Ability to make effective appearances on behalf of the client at depositions, hearings, depositions of medical & vocational experts, trials, and appellate proceedings, and effectively litigate on the client’s behalf overall
Strong legal writing and legal research skills with the ability to draft settlements, trial briefs, appellate briefs, petitions, letters & other legal documents.
Managing a docket of Workers' Compensation cases to resolution
Excellent written & verbal communication skills and ability to communicate with all parties effectively & professionally.
Deadline and detail-oriented
Ability to prioritize and multitask.
Depositions :
Preparing client for deposition
Attending depositions
Invoicing Depositions
Mentorship :
Assisting associates with settlement, legal and case management system (Smart Advocate) questions.
Case Re-Evaluations :
Advising on increased demand when live negotiations are required
Responding to client inquiries that require attorney negations and moving matters towards resolution
Responsive to incoming emails and phone calls
Providing direction and guidance to non-attorneys as needed
Trial participation as needed
Attending hearings when an attorney’s presence is needed
Asist team members with challenging client interactions
Team Player :
Bringing positivity to the workplace and leading non-attorneys by example
Participation in team events during work and after work hours
Providing feedback to management to ensure WCLG performs the best it can for our clients
Other duties as assigned by the managing partner and / or operations manager
