Position Overview:
As a dealership cashier, you will be responsible for accurately processing customer payments for vehicle purchases or service repairs, including cash, checks, and credit cards. You will provide excellent customer service, ensure all transactions are properly recorded in the dealership system, and maintain a balanced cash drawer. This position often acts as the primary point of contact for customers at the end of their transaction, addressing any questions or concerns regarding their bill.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet customers courteously and professionally at the cashier window
- Perform basic math, computer, and calculator skills for transactions
- Thrive in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritize and multitask
- Provide clear, professional communication with customers and team members
- Provide correct change and issue receipts promptly
- Comply with dealership policies and procedures regarding cash handling and payment processing
- Accurately input transaction details into the dealership management system
- Record totals of counter tickets and repair orders, cross-verify against all payments at the end of the shift
- Verify parts and service invoices against batch posting reports and reconcile any discrepancies
- Regularly reconcile cash drawer totals, ensuring accuracy and resolving discrepancies
Qualifications:
- Strong Math Skills: Ability to accurately calculate totals and make change
- Customer Service Excellence: Professional demeanor and ability to interact positively with customers
- Attention to Detail: Precise record-keeping and accuracy in handling transactions
- Basic Computer Proficiency: Familiarity with point-of-sale systems and dealership software
- Clear Communication Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with customers and team members
- Automotive Cashiering Experience (preferred but not required): Prior experience in a similar role is advantageous
