Project Engineer
The main function of this position is to create complete tooling solutions to process customer components and manage projects through successful completion. This position will also be the main contact between the Walter production units, Engineering, and sales to ensure special tools and projects are delivered correctly and on-time.

- Collect the necessary information needed to generate accurate and timely quotes.
- Analyze customer needs to ensure that requested tool(s) are within Walter engineering and manufacturing capability and can be produced profitably.
- Present quotes and concept drawings to customer to ensure customer understanding of product.
- Utilize the provided system for quote generation as needed.
- Collect and analyze quote dispositions to determine accurate data on reasons for orders being placed or denied by customers.
- Assist other Project Engineers when needed in their completion of quotes.
- Develop concepts to meet customer needs, working in conjunction with sales personnel
- Generate quotes and prints for tools to include necessary specifications such as feeds & speeds, machining times, and projected cost savings
- Oversee the manufacturing of the special tools by acting as liaison between engineering and manufacturing to ensure the product meets customer tooling needs and delivery deadlines
- Provide engineering support at initial start-up of manufacturing and during production
- Facilitate problem-solving process when needed for modifications of product during production
- Follow-up on proposed modifications of existing tools
- Complete documentation of the data generated throughout the testing process of the special project including such data as feeds & speeds, cutting criteria, and machining times
- Follow special projects to completion, including the evaluation of the success/failure of the project and appropriate allocation of projects to the financial accounts
- Undergraduate degree in Engineering and 5-7 years of experience in the manufacturing sector related to machining and processes.
- Extensive knowledge of cutting tool application, design and machining processes required. NC programming experience preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Project management experience required.
- Knowledge of 2D design is required; 3D design is preferred.
- Microsoft Office experience required.
- Knowledge of quoting and engineering systems along with SAP experience preferred.
- Shall professionally carry himself/herself with an exemplary attitude toward working companions, customers’ daily activities.
- Ability to travel up to 20% of the time in the region.
