Walters Buildings, the premier family-owned post fame builder in the Midwest, is hiring a Drafter to join our Engineering Services team at our corporate office in Allenton, WI.
Position Summary:
Under the general direction of Drafting Manager, the Drafter is responsible for putting together complete construction and engineering details based on customer needs.
Duties/Responsibilities:
The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Draft complete structural and construction plans for post frame buildings using the latest version of AutoCAD LT.
- Create the layout and design of commercial sealed buildings (with Engineering guidance).
- Collaborate with Engineering to ensure designs are structurally sound.
- Partner with Estimators to ensure the building materials are available and in alignment with customer expectations.
- Organize building project with sales team to ensure buildings are customized according to the specific needs of the customer.
- Use Revit occasionally to create renderings.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must have above average math skills.
- Ability to read and write English.
- Strong organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to think critically and problem solve.
Working Environment and Physical Demands:
- Perform the majority work in an office setting.
Education and Experience:
- Postsecondary education equivalent to a degree in Drafting or Construction or equivalent experience preferred.
- 3 years of experience drafting construction plans.
- Must be proficient in AutoCAD, Excel, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $32.00 per hour

Experience:
- construction plan drafting: 3 years (Preferred)
- AutoCAD: 3 years (Required)
Ability to Relocate:
- Allenton, WI 53002: Relocate before starting work (Required)
