Job Summary
We are seeking a sprayer operator to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying crop protection and fertilizer products to agricultural fields to promote healthy growth and protect against pests. This role requires a combination of experience operating large agricultural equipment (primarily a self-propelled sprayer), ability to follow directions, communicate well, adapt to changing plans, and keep accurate records.
Duties
- Operate sprayer during spring and summer on a family farm located in Northern IL
- Mix of operating sprayer, fertilizer spreader, grain cart, and driving semi to haul grain in the fall
- Complete fence line cleanup work, equipment maintenance, and hauling grain with a semi in the winter
- Follow directions and work as a team
- Complete daily machine maintenance and cleaning
- Keep accurate records of applied products via provided mobile app
- Communicate and show up on time
- Adapt to changing plans based on weather and other factors
Requirements
- At least one year of experience operating a self propelled sprayer for agricultural purposes preferred
- Ability to obtain Illinois commercial applicator's license (can complete after hiring, but a plus if you already have this)
- Work 7 days/week during busy season (flexible during the rest of the year)
- CDL is a plus but not required
Other information:
- Time off granted as long as discussed prior
- Health insurance offered after completing 3 months in the role
- Role will average 3100 hrs/yr (assuming 60 hrs/week average)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 70 per week
