About the Role:
The Horticulture Assistant plays a crucial role in the success of Walters Gardens by supporting the growth and development of high-quality plants in our greenhouses.
- Responsibilities:
- Monitor and control moisture levels in the greenhouses to ensure optimal plant growth
- Maintain and operate irrigation systems to deliver the right amount of water to each crop
- Collaborate with the Section Grower and Lead Grower to develop and implement effective fertilization strategies
- Identify and address any issues related to sanitation, pests, and diseases that may impact plant health
Requirements:
- Knowledge and Skills:
- 2 years of experience in horticulture or a related field
- Strong understanding of irrigation systems and fertilizer applications
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods
