The chief job of a Sous Chef at Walters is to support the Executive Chef and to act as the Executive Chef in their absence. We are actively seeking experienced candidates with a strong work ethic. This person can adapt and learn quickly. Sous Chefs should be a resident expert in kitchen operations. Sous Chefs communicate clearly and provide necessary direction to a team. Our chefs take pride in their work but have the ability to handle criticism.
What You’ll Do:
- Gets the right food, to the right place, at the right time
- Completes food preparation and cooks according to recipes
- Plates and presents food to meet standards
- Transports food and equipment to venues for events
- Oversees the kitchen food service during events
- Maintains proper sanitation and cleanliness at all times
Qualifications:
- Required Education: High School diploma or equivalent, culinary degree preferred
- Required Experience: 1-2 years of successful culinary experience
- Certifications: Serve Safe Food Handlers
- Physical Requirements: Able to lift 30 lbs frequently, stand/walk 8-12 hours
- Other: Submit to a background and drug test, have a valid drivers license and clean driving record
Compensation & Schedule:
- Full-Time: Weekends and Evenings when events take place
- Must be available and willing to work weekends, holidays, late nights
- Hourly: $20 - $23 per hour, based on experience
