Job Title: Value Stream Team Leader (Shipping/Receiving)

Purpose: Directly leads a manufacturing team of hourly shipping and receiving personnel and supervision and indirectly leads support team members from production, quality and maintenance. This production team is responsible for all aspects of shipping and receiving. This would include Shipping Clerks, Receiving Clerks, Shipping/Receiving Leads, Parts Pickers, Cycle Counters, Material Handlers, Logistics Coordinators, staffing, quality improvements, efficiency improvements and maintaining quality and maintenance requirements. Each production team is responsible for achieving a defined set of KPIs from which performance can be measured, visualized, tracked and reported.

Principle Accountabilities: (Provide 5-8 Accountabilities for the position)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leads all related production planning activities for the defined area of responsibility. This requires cross functional communication and cooperation throughout the organization.
  • Plan and coordinate resources to drive operational excellence.
  • Lead daily production meetings and lead monthly operations review and forecast meetings for the respective area of responsibility.
  • Implement improvements through the use of lean manufacturing practices such as: Problem identification and problem solving techniques (PPS), value stream mapping, use of Kanban/Heijunka systems TPM processes, Loss Time Analysis, KASS and LELC, etc.
  • Act as coach or mentor for direct reports and other team members to develop skills in lean concepts, leadership and the development of next level associates to further drive the improvement philosophy to all levels of the organization.
  • Active involvement in the training process and assures that training is carried out within area of responsibility.
  • Encourages direct reports to make suggestions to improve the production process by leading and/or participating in Kaizen events, Employee Involvement (EI) time, listening to suggestions, and promoting two-way open communications among employees, co-workers, peers and management.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by adhering to established safety practices as well as actively participating in safety committee meetings.
  • Actively participates/supports quality related functions including support efforts for ISO standards, process, product, and other audits which support/improve departmental/line activities.
  • Interface with customers and management to support the company’s goals and objectives.
  • All decisions relating to employment, i.e. hiring, termination, promotion, etc., require the approval of Human Resources.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • Associates degree or higher in Management or Engineering or relevant experience, preferred
  • 3-5 years of experience as a supervisor in a manufacturing environment
  • 5 years of experience in Warehousing, Shipping/Receiving
  • Understanding targets and capability to create/ deliver a plan to achieve them; monitor accordingly
  • Ability to appropriately escalate any deviations/ potential deviations from the plan
  • Ability to create/grow the culture of CI - Facilitate Improvements while teaching the tools
  • Problem Solving skills
  • Organizational skills - production, projects, people, etc..
  • Check/ Act on Std. Work - Develop and sustain LSW to support this
  • Proven experience in building, leading and motivating teams ·
  • Self-directed with effective time management skills, strong organizational skills and a demonstrated ability to multi-task and work within a global growing organization.
  • Must have strong oral and written English communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, cost management skills, and innovative problem solving skills. ·
  • Experience with MS Office software
  • Understanding of SAP and MRP systems

Experience implementing lean in a manufacturing environment

  • Set expectations, coach, recognize and provide constructive feedback as appropriate to EI team i.e. Proven experience in leading teams

o Majority of time will be spent on plant floor which is hot in the summer and cold in the winter

o Enclosed office on factory floor is climate controlled

Requirement to off-shift to cover vacations and weekends when necessary to cover production

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $70,000.00 per year
