Security Monitor
Position Summary: The Security Monitors is responsible for maintaining an environment that is safe and conducive to learning.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Monitor students inside and outside of the school building and during arrival and dismissal time;
- Monitor the common areas, cafeteria, and parking lot for students who have walked out without authorization;
- Maintain high visibility at all times when supervising hallways and checking student passes;
- Detention duty and monitoring students serving in-school suspension;
- Monitor students during after-school activities;
- Collaborate with teachers and school administrators to monitor class attendance and any student-related issues;
- Support the high school to help provide prevention support for student-related incidents;
- Provide written reports of incidents and accidents;
- Receive bus incident reports from bus drivers and follow up in accordance with school and district policies and procedures;
- Work with the high school team to help establish or change regulations and procedures for students when necessary;
- Assist with directing traffic in the parking lot;
- Other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with young learners and some coursework in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, Criminal Justice or related fields.
- Bilingual in Spanish, Haitian Creole, or Portuguese.
- Proficient in basic technology systems, like Google Suite and student information systems.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Experience working with families and school personnel to support student success.
- Understanding of and interest in vulnerable student populations impacted by trauma.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications may be found to be appropriate and acceptable.
Reports To: High School Principal or designee
Hours: 7am - 3pm
