Organization Overview: Walton Options is a disability-led advocacy organization dedicated to promoting the inclusion and empowerment of individuals with disabilities. Our mission is to provide support, resources, and advocacy to ensure that people with disabilities have equal access to opportunities and are fully integrated into their communities. We provide services in Georgia and South Carolina with the majority of our services in the 16 Counties surrounding Augusta and 10 Counties in SC that cover the Low Country and Western border counties.
Position Title: Board Member

Responsibilities:
- Mission Advocacy:
- Actively promote the mission and values of Walton Options, advocating for the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities.
- Engage with the community to raise awareness about disability issues and the importance of inclusion.
- Board Duties:
- Attend and participate in regular board meetings, contributing to strategic planning and decision-making.
- Review and approve organizational policies, budgets, and program initiatives.
- Collaborate with fellow board members to set goals and evaluate the organization’s progress.
- Fundraising and Resource Development:
- Support fundraising efforts through networking, sponsorship, and grant writing.
- Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors and partners.
- Community Engagement:
- Serve as an ambassador for Walton Options, representing the organization at community events and meetings.
- Foster partnerships with other organizations, agencies, and stakeholders to advance our mission.
- Advocacy and Support:
- Provide insights and perspectives on disability-related issues, ensuring the voices of individuals with disabilities are central to all discussions.
- Assist in the development of programs and services that align with the needs of the community.
- Compliance and Governance:
- Ensure that the organization operates in compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
- Participate in board development activities and stay informed about best practices in nonprofit governance.
Qualifications:

- Passion for advocacy and inclusion of people with disabilities.
- Experience or knowledge in nonprofit governance, fundraising, or community organizing.

- Regular attendance at board meetings (typically 6- 8 x year) and participation in committee work.
