This newly created position exists to provide knowledge and expertise to customers and internal staff on meat processing seasonings, casings, packaging, supplies, equipment, and other processes. They will use the test kitchen to train employees and customers as well as do onsite training of equipment with customers. Maintaining positive business relationships to ensure future sales is key.

Walton’s Inc. is a family-owned-and-operated business headquartered in Wichita, KS with an additional office in Omaha, NE. We provide small-to-medium sized independent commercial meat processors with the seasonings, supplies, equipment and helpful knowledge that they need to make their own businesses successful. Additionally, Walton’s also works to grow the hobby of home meat processing by offering products and informational resources directly to home processors. We are currently in the process of building a new facility due to be completed June 2025. Come grow with us!

Essential functions include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Acts with honesty and integrity
• Educate customers in all aspects of meat processing and product manufacturing
• Organize and manage customer and employee training classes
• Prepare presentations for sessions at lectures and training programs
• Prepare how-to guides on product manufacturing
• Research and answer questions about food processing techniques and procedures
• Identify and troubleshoot solutions to manufacturing defects and needs for customer products
• Utilize in-house test kitchen facilities to demonstrate and train customers and employees on equipment and product use
• Keep current with best practices and industry trends
• Attend industry trade shows, conventions, and further education seminars
• Travel, as necessary, to train on equipment
• Know the functions/applications and how to operate equipment to train customers after the sale or to assist in making a sale
• Expedite the resolution of customer problems and complaints
• Supply management with reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new products and services.
• Continuously improve through feedback

Qualifications:

• Problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new skills on the job
• Strong computer skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Collaborative and self-motivated
• Organization and time management skills
• Bachelor’s degree in food or animal related sciences or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3 years experience in the small to mid size meat processing industry

Desired Skills:

• Slaughter floor operations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year

Experience:

• Meat processing or educational such as food science degree: 3 years (Required)
