This role is essential in supporting attorneys by conducting research, managing case files, and ensuring compliance with legal standards. The successful candidate will thrive in a fast-paced environment and demonstrate exceptional organizational skills.

YOU WILL SPEND APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS TRAINING WITH THE CURRENT FAMILY PARALEGAL.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive paralegal support to attorneys in all stages of family law cases.
  • Draft and file legal documents including petitions, discovery, motions, and declarations.
  • Organize and maintain case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility at all times.
  • Manage deadlines, court calendars, and attorney schedules with precision.
  • Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients to gather information, provide updates, and answer general questions.
  • Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, and other third parties as needed.
  • Prepare exhibits, trial binders, and materials for hearings and mediations.
  • Stay current and compliant with Connecticut Practice Book rules and procedures relevant to family law matters.
  • Use legal case management software and technology tools for efficient workflow and document handling.

Skills

  • High level of organization and the ability to adapt organizational techniques to fit the needs of the firm and attorney's.
  • High level of comfort with technology; proficiency in legal case management software (e.g. MyCase), Microsoft Office, and digital document systems is preferred.
  • Proficient research skills with experience using Westlaw or similar legal research tools.
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong proofreading abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to handle sensitive client information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Detail-oriented and resourceful with a proactive mindset.
