YOU WILL SPEND APPROXIMATELY 3 MONTHS TRAINING WITH THE CURRENT FAMILY PARALEGAL.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive paralegal support to attorneys in all stages of family law cases.
- Draft and file legal documents including petitions, discovery, motions, and declarations.
- Organize and maintain case files, ensuring accuracy and accessibility at all times.
- Manage deadlines, court calendars, and attorney schedules with precision.
- Communicate professionally and empathetically with clients to gather information, provide updates, and answer general questions.
- Coordinate with courts, opposing counsel, and other third parties as needed.
- Prepare exhibits, trial binders, and materials for hearings and mediations.
- Stay current and compliant with Connecticut Practice Book rules and procedures relevant to family law matters.
- Use legal case management software and technology tools for efficient workflow and document handling.
Skills
- High level of organization and the ability to adapt organizational techniques to fit the needs of the firm and attorney's.
- High level of comfort with technology; proficiency in legal case management software (e.g. MyCase), Microsoft Office, and digital document systems is preferred.
- Proficient research skills with experience using Westlaw or similar legal research tools.
- Exceptional attention to detail with strong proofreading abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently while maintaining a high level of accuracy.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively interact with clients and colleagues.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Ability to handle sensitive client information with discretion and professionalism.
- Detail-oriented and resourceful with a proactive mindset.
