Wamego Unified School seeks a dedicated and experienced educator to fill the role of High Incidence/Interrelated Sped Teacher at Wamego Middle School. This position is ideal for individuals passionate about teaching special education students.
Responsibilities:
- Fulfill the role of case manager for special education students with academic and behavioral disabilities
- Develop compliant individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Facilitate IEP team meetings
- Communicate frequently and effectively with parents
- Prepare lesson plans and provide direct special education services to students
- Create a positive and conducive learning environment
- Implement behavior intervention plans that include positive behavior supports
- Collaborate with general education teachers to meet the needs of special education students
- Work collaboratively with other service providers
- Assist general education teachers with curriculum modifications
- Ensure the implementation of the IEP as written
- Contribute to student evaluations determining eligibility and need for special education
- Assess student progress on a regular basis
- Supervise para-educators
